Background

Event venues today are accustomed to putting on the most spectacular of shows, whether as part of a global concert tour or a premier league football final. There’s a lot that comes with that, but not least the smooth running of the audio-visual equipment installed. From Tottenham Hotspurs dazzling stadium, to Wembley, Twickenham and the recent addition to UK venues - Coop Live in Manchester - each has a specific requirement when it comes to successful event delivery.

Challenges

Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London is a completely new build facility, replacing the football club’s previous White Hart Lane location. It is the third largest football stadium in England and is considered at the cutting-edge of technology by the AV and IT industries. The stadium required LED technology for a range of applications, from large end-displays and ribbon displays around the central bowl, to large façade displays on the north and south of the stadium exterior, and atrium, ticket office and wayfinding screens. The innovative design and commitment to technology spend resulted in a range of LED from 10mm pixel pitch down to 2.5mm in a range of spaces with specific environmental conditions and access requirements.

Wembley Stadium
Designed for the London Olympics 2012 and since converted to accommodate a range of sporting events and concerts (including being home to West Ham football club) the stadium requires robust support for its installed technologies. With regular changes to the scope of services required for event support, as well as reactive maintenance and planned preventative works, the requirement to keep the technology working and looking its best has never been more integral to a venue.

Samsung Kings Cross (KX)
Samsung KX is the manufacturer’s showcase site in central London acting both as a showroom for its range of professional and consumer products, and as a live events space used internally and hired out to a range of other businesses and organisations for high-profile events. The centre piece of the experience store is the 1.2mm pixel pitch display measuring 10m by 6m and installed on a custom-made concave bracket. Other displays in the location include the first ever ‘The Wall’ display installed in Europe, showcasing Samsung’s MicroLED product. The nature of the event space means uptime of digital assets is key to revenue generation as ensuring Samsung’s own products are demonstrated in the best light.
